α Crt Alkes Despite being the α (alpha) star in the constellation, it is not the brightest. That honour goes to δ Crt. Alkes appears as Aoul al Batina (from the Arabic awwal al‑bajna meaning 'the first cup') in Mohammad Al Achsasi Al Mouakket's calendarium.
