Mrs. George W. Engle
Mrs. George W. Engle, a native of the town of Broome and for many years a
resident of the town of Middleburgh, died at the home of her son William
Engle near Hawyerville Feb. 18th as a result of a shock sustained some weeks
before. Had she lived until the 12th of March she would have reached the age
of 84. She was a daughter of Justice Hagadorn of the town of Broome who
lived to reach the age of 100. Mrs. Engle was one of the good women of this
world and made friends wherever she went. She had a host of them among the
older people of this community where for years she was held in high esteem.
Since her husband's death, several years ago, she had lived with her
children. She is survived by four sons, Justice, Thomas, Lyman and William,
and two daughters, Mrs. Rolland Whitney of Albany and Mrs. F. W. Hallenbeck
also of Albany. Her funeral took place Monday at Livingstonville. Her
remains were laid to rest by the side of her husband in the Middleburgh
cemetery.
